The Municipality of La Conception, Quebec, enlisted our team to assess the potential and extent of soil liquefaction at the proposed site for the municipal garage structure. The investigation results indicated a high risk of liquefaction under seismic activity, reaching depths of about 14 meters. Soil improvement and foundation design were deemed essential. Our team's role expanded to explore cost-effective alternatives to mitigate the liquefaction risk. Deep foundation solution reaching bedrock was chosen as a suitable option that met both cost and time constraints. Budget revisions and
contractual issues needed to be resolved. The municipality extended our mandate to assist with technical changes, contractual negotiations and amendments, and site inspection and monitoring to ensure the project's successful completion.

Engineering Optimized Constructible Solutions
Upon our engagement, a thorough technical review identified gaps to be addressed. In-situ testing and surveys were conducted using seismic static cone penetrometer (SCPTu). An overall site assessment was performed, and design alternatives were developed. Close collaboration with the structural engineering team optimized foundation solutions in terms of constructibility, materials, and time savings. This enabled our client to find the most cost-effective and time-efficient solutions. Proposed cost variations by contractors were evaluated, and feedback was presented to support our client's decision-making.
